Dr. Daddy

It is done! Congratulations Daddy, we are SO proud of you!

Yesterday Alex successfully defended his thesis and he now has completely earned his PhD in Chemistry. We are nostalgic as we look back over the last 4.5 years - what a journey! We will miss the graduate school days, but we know there are exciting times ahead as well...

Not only did Alex complete his graduate degree, but he became Daddy to two little girls as well in the past 4.5 years. As I sat listening to his seminar yesterday, I realized that most people don't have a family in grad school and that he has done a wonderful job balancing work and family these past years...not only has he learned exciting things about solar panels, but he has also learned how to change diapers, put fussy babies to sleep, play dolls, put in pony tails, etc, etc. Perhaps this was a dual degree...

We love you Alex!

We went on a little walk before dropping him off...

He looks pretty confident...?!

Good job Daddy! Getting these tights on without wrinkles this morning was probably more difficult than your seminar...:-)

Haha..and you thought solar panels were tough...I got some news for you!

Wide Open Spaces

Enjoying a ride together - this is not ALWAYS how they ride...but usually enjoy sitting together.

Thanks to my daughters, the village will have a very large crop of dandelions appearing soon...Abbie loves to blow the seeds.

"This grass feels kinda prickly I think..."

Blow, Baby, Blow
Do you see that speck that is my 2 year old running?! We have enjoyed discovering the wide open spaces in the suburbs - great for getting afternoon wiggles out.

Family Gathering

A few weekends ago we had a wonderful visit from Aunt Robyn, Uncle Ben, Cousin Jonas, Cousin Miles, Grandma and Grandpa!! It was a weekend filled with laughs, chaos and good conversation - especially if you count the 'conversation' provided by the four kiddos aged 2 and under!

Isabel - are you pretending to reach for cereal when you were really goin' for the Old Style?

The guys satisfied their need for dirt, beer, and destruction by helping us re-do part of our backyard.

And since women have an even greater need for dirt, beer, and destruction we allowed the toddlers to fingerpaint...

Why are you looking at me that way - do I have something stuck in my teeth?!

Storytime with Auntie Robyn - she got both 2 year olds to sit still for longer than 20 seconds!
