MN for the holidays...

Hey all,

Long time no bloggin'. We've had the blessing of visitors Dave Cecilpot and Nick Litchfield and an altogether busy push into the holidays. Hopefully we're taking off for MN for a nice long break with our families. Abbie has been a blast lately! And look how big she's gotten! Can't wait to see all our friends and family over the holiday! Hope you all enjoy!

Another successful weekend

Every day is another joy! We had such a great weekend with our little family. Abbie made her first big holiday party appearance with my gradudate student group. The party was at my advisor's house packed with holiday music, a sparkley tree, a real fireplace and even a nice snow shower. It really got us in the holiday spirit! Also my college roommate (Roommate) stopped by! An old friend is always ... well, always an old friend... which is a very good thing. Hope this finds you all with a cup of hot cocoa in your hand. If not... maybe now is your chance!

1 month

Wow can you believe how fast one month goes by!? We went in for our 2nd well-baby check ... and she's well! Anyone care to guess Abbie's weight? I'll give you a hint... she was 7 lbs 5 oz. 20 days ago... Guesses? Read the comments after you've made your guess. Can you see the love/hunger in her eyes?

"Abbie in brown chair with boppy pillow" series

Hmmm... Mommy kinda has too much fun taking pictures of her baby girl ;-)

I think the dimples are flashing in one of these pictures?!

Here we are...three weeks after the birth of our baby girl...three weeks wiser, three weeks of sketchy sleep, but we've gained three weeks of the most incredible experience of our lives...we love you Abigail Anne!! We now know the meaning of a "blow out" ( we didn't know babies could DO that!), being awake at 3:30am isn't nearly as scary as it sounds, babies smell absolutely delicious (even if they do smell slightly of sour milk when it's been three days without a bath!) and the feeling of that little person burrowing into your shoulder all warm and sleepy is like nothing else....

Hello everyone - Happy Thanksgiving!!

Ahhh...a queen size bed is just about the right size...

How is it that the smallest member of the family takes up the most room in the bed?!! She just makes herself right at home curled up next to Mommy - after Daddy leaves for work Abbie sneaks into bed with Mommy...without help from Mommy, of course...so what can I do but let her stay?!!! ;-) But maybe that's why Alex and I find pacifiers and other random baby items in our sheets at 3am?!

Abbie and buddies

Here's some photos of Abbie with some of Mom and Dad's buddies...Some of Katie's friends from work, the midwife who delivered Abbie, and some our friends who just had a baby too! We got the two babies together for some "play" time...even though they slept the entire date. As we laid the babies on the couch side-by-side for a photo, Alex said, "This is the last time for the next 25 years that she will sleep this close to a boy!!" Everyone had a good chuckle over that...:-)

Abbie in action

Here's a "so tired" picture, a picture of Abbie all bundled up - we call her our little snowflake!
She loves riding in the sling or front pack...she kinda snuggles down in.

Abbie loooooves her Daddy!

Some cute pictures of Daddy-Daughter time...she really listens to what he has to say...at THIS age...just wait about 2 years huh?! Note our Feathered Friend also appears in the photos...Gandhi will not be left out...he ALSO loves Alex. Is there enough of Alex to go around?! :-)

Okay...a few more pics...Aunt Robyn and Uncle Ben visited and Abbie was delighted to meet them :-)

Tuesday morning musings...

Well, I sit here while our beautiful baby girls sleeps...we played and read books for an hour and then the little yawns started coming fast and furious, so we rocked and snuggled until she dropped off to sleep. I look at her lying there in her cradle, so perfect and sweet, and realize what a marvelous gift she really is...sent from somewhere in the universe to us to have and hold during her time on earth. I feel so privileged...babies really are amazing creatures. Alex and I were talking last night about how we never really understoond how our parents loved us until we became parents ourselves...the love of a parent for their child is an amazing concept. Well, sniff sniff, now I'm getting all teary, maybe this is enough musing for a Tuesday morning. I just wanted you all to know how very much in awe I am ....I don't think that will every fade. Every day as she changes and grows bigger I feel I am saying goodbye to one more day of babyland, etching it in my memory, and turning to embrace the newest day of growth and learning...amazing.

And hey, last night she slept for SIX hours at a time??? What's up with that! We're not complaining, she's our little angel baby! That was some good stuff...maybe this is why I can actually put together a clear and coherent sentence of musing...hehe. Thanks for the refreshing stretch Abbie-Girl! Now...I'm off to go lean over the cradle and smell her sweet baby smell and inhale her sweet baby breath just one more time...

Grandma F. came to visit this weekend. We had so much fun (and got extra sleep)! It was a joy to see the bright, smiling faces of so many lovely ladies.

Sharing the love...

Both sets of our parents and Mike were sweet enough to rush down and see us on Abbie's big day. We're so glad everyone came to share the love!
