October Happenings

So today is actually Abbie's third birthday! Happy Birthday to our Abbie! But we've been celebrating all month with lots of fun activities and visitors - so, since a picture is worth a thousand words (and no one wants to read a thousand words from me!!) here are a bunch of pictures from our October Adventures...

Sooner or Later

Sooner or later it was bound to happen...

Things you don't really want to hear your 3 year old say, for various reasons

1.“Mama, it's raining in the house!” During downpoar which resulted in leaky roof.

2.I am frantically trying to sneak in a 2 minute shower before we leave the house. I asked Abbie what Isabel was doing. She replied, “Isabel is cutting with scissors.” Hmm...THAT shower ended in a timely fashion!

3.“Mama. I broke Daddy's favorite necklace and Isabel is eating it now.”

4.“Daddy has testes.” “What? Daddy has what?” I reply with horror on my face. I believe in correct names for anatomy, but who has been teaching my 3 year old about testes?! Abbie repeats adamately, “Daddy has testes.” Finally I realize she is meaning “chesties.” “Oh, you mean Daddy has a chest.” “Yeah, Daddy has 'ch-testies!'” I decided she could call it 'chesties' as long as she was still innocent of testes!

5.(in loud, toddler voice that entire park can hear) “What's SHE doing??!!” In response to the large, very very burly MALE park district worker who was fixing a sign nearby. Thankfully, he ignored us.

6.Spoken to a first-time guest to our new house, “There's a rhinoscerous in the laundry room. Yeah, he lives there now.”

7.“Mama, I went potty. It's Izzie's turn now. She's stirring the potty with her toothbrush.”

8. When we were new to the neighborhood, a kind neighbor lady stopped by. I ran into the house to pull something out of the oven because the timer was beeping. The lady asked Abbie if that was dinner cooking and what I was making. Abbie replied, “Yeah, it's dinner. We're having cookies.” “Oh really,” she replied with look of surprise. “Yeah, it's my favorite dinner,” replies Abbie. As IF I feed them dinners of cookies often...I mean, at all.

9.When Abbie earned a prize from the reading club at the library, she was told by the librarian that she could pick a prize. “What do you want, Sweetheart? The pencil? The bracelet?” Abbie replies, “The BIG SNAKE!” In loud, very confident voice. You can bet she got the fake snake!

10.“Mama, I saw a stinky skunk in our yard.” As Abbie and Daddy came in – in a very rapid fashion – from our backyard!

11.“Oh, YOU have those TOO.” Abbie observes my cousin as she changed her shirt. Thank goodness it was family.

Hmm...the verbal skills of the youngest one are fast-developing...should be interesting!
