Spills

Spill things? Who US?!
This is not a complaint, just an observation so that when I wonder where the morning went I know what I spent all the time doing...:-)

Before noon today we spilled: One bowl of dry Cheerios, Another bowl of Cheerios, One bowl of milk AND cheerios, One very full cup of juice, and A full bowl of chicken noodle soup. We also ripped the door nob off the back door, and found ants roaming the living room (no surprises there after all the spills - although I DO clean up obsessively!)
Amazingly, the ONE thing I thought would be spilled, wasn't spilled at all! For the last few days Isabel has been wanting to go on the potty chair sometimes and is perfecly sucessful at it. This morning I decided to do my motherly duty and let her have a go at staying dry (I think she's too young at 21 months but I'll let her try). She refused to wear a pull-up and insisted on undies so I thought I would be doing multiple clean-ups of THAT kind of spill...but she didn't slip up once!! Hmm...I might get dragged into something here - we'll see...

Also, I've noticed a bit of a pattern. I know most jobs have a certain amount of repitition...but parenting seems to be a highly repititious job...;-) Here are two hours, enough time to ascertain a pattern. Any parents out there agree that "repititious - yet something new, different, exciting every day" should be part of the parenting job description?!!

6:30am - Feed breakfast #1, clean up spilled bowl of Cheerios, two times in a row
7:30am - Kids want Second breakfast, Feed breakfast #2; clean up big, wet Cheerio spill
7:45am - clean up juice spill, take Izzie potty, kiss a boo-boo
7:50am - trip over play food that is scattered all over hallway, clean up play food
8:00am - change sheets on beds and make beds, start laundry load #1 of 4
8:10am - dress girls, put in pony tails, kiss ANOTHER boo-boo
8:20am - RE-make all beds as the girls were playing "sleep" in them
8:25am - RE-dress Izzie, who is very adept at stripping these days
8:30am - RE-do pony tails which were ruined by "sleep" game
8:40am - RE-clean up play food that has been dumped out a second time, take Izzie potty - again

Best job in the world, however.

You're right Katie, it is the best job in the world - there just isnt' any equity in the pay scale:) Get ready to multiply those chores again with a third one coming! Also, why are Abbie and Izzie laying in the cover of the sandbox??? It took me awhile to figure out what it was.

And, of course, there is no time in those 2 hours for any mommy showering, dressing, hair-doing, OR breakfast-eating. But if you're like me, you just eat the spilled cheerios as you pick them up off the floor!

Tally two for me! Thought I might have done the dirty work for you this morning before I left but I see Abbie was only getting started. At least they were Honey Nut... mmm...

P.S. Grandma - I was informed the sandbox cover is actually a boat. Don't forget your oars when you come.

Actually, I thought maybe they were in there to catch the cheerios when they spilled.

Whew! What a day katie! I agree that there is no pay scale equity formula that covers this job.

As far as the shower, I will be over early tomorrow morning to allow Katie to shower - in peace. I am bringing my first ever blueberry cheescake made from scratch ... and it is extra yummy. Yes, Alex, I have extra pieces for you and Katie to consume while watching gray's Anatomy.

I know you guys are quickly filling your house, but have you thought of getting a dog? It could save you lots of clean-up each day :o) They are very good for kissing boo-boos, too!

Ooooohhhhh! I agree with the dog idea! You don't have to wipe out the highchair/booster seats with a dog around, either! They get those after the floor!! :)
