So Many Fun Adventures!

Well! We have been so blessed this summer to have the honor of visitors to our home and the honor of visiting others as well! Our recent string of adventures begins with the girls and I taking the Amtrack to MN to visit my Mom's side of the family. The train ride was interesting - lots of room compared to flying and the girls loved the whistle and big windows with lots of scenic views...until it got dark and then the DVD player ran out of batteries...but that's a different story! they actually did fall asleep on the train quite well, as we didn't arrive in Minneapolis until well past 11pm.

Right before we left, we visited the splash park with our friend Owen and had so much fun! He's such a fun guy to hang out with and Mama gets to hang out with her buddy Katie too!

My Mom and Grandma visited us earlier in the summer and so my Grandma had us over for "tea" this time -she and Abbie love to play tea party. Grandma allowed Abbie to use her china cup and saucer that she got when she was a child...much to my dismay! I was sure it would be broken, but Abbie used it carefully and had so much fun sipping...

Nana and Abbie playing at a park near Nana's new home. Goofy girls - it was all I could do to enforce bedtime! so many giggles...

Abbie had a little too much fun playing and no nap this particular day. She passed out in the car on the way home and slept through the harassment of both her sister and Uncle Mike!

I visited my college roommate Rachel and her little Brooke! It was so fun to visit and catch up...the girls were much more interactive at this age and it was fun to see them get to know each other!

Next we drove to northern MN to visit my relatives' cabins - it was great to see everyone and much fun was had by all!
Just sitting around the campfire...alright, not just sitting, but roasting s'mores as well!

Isabel crossed her legs and clapped for my cousin's violin music, just like Nana!

Nana and Isabel "swimming" - what you don't see is how wet Nana ended up being from all the "swimming" (splashing frantically with both feet!) So Nana didn't end up avoiding the chilly dip in the lake afterall...

So lovely to have a brave Auntie Ali who actually volunteered to take Abbie swimming!! Mama did get in the water as well...and know what? That cold MN lake water was not nearly as cold as I remembered it to be! Or maybe I just have more insulation now...:-)

Such a typical family picture! At least we were all in the same place at the same time even if only one of us was looking...

Mike and his girlfriend MaKenzie (or Kaanzie, as Abbie calls her!) with Mama and Auntie Als

Hot tubbin' it - once Abbie got to dip her legs in there she wanted nothing to do with the lake!

Aunt Jayne and Ali. I thought this was a great mother-daughter picture around the campfire with the Great Northern Woods in the background...gotta love MN.

Auntie Ali then visited us at our home a few days after we got back as she drove back to school...the girls found a reading pal! and that's a plastic spoon in Isabel's mouth...for what it's worth.

And I leave you with a video of the girls "playing."

Watch for upcoming pictures of a college friend's wedding we attended this past weekend where the girls were *stars* on the dance floor and then fell asleep in our arms at 9:30pm, just in time for us to enjoy one more pitcher of beer...:-) We also got to visit Alex's parents in RW where the girls had a little playdate with the boy cousins and got some nice lovin' from Grandma and Grandpa!
